The Issue
Legal issues can have a profound influence on the field of cyber forensics.
The main purpose of cyber forensics is achieving the acceptance of digital evidence
in a court of law. This involves techniques employed to extract and analyze
digital data from electronic devices in a manner that is legally admissible in a
court of law.
The Survey
There are two goals of this survey. The first one is to identify which legal
issues are considered the most important to the professionals in the field of cyber
forensics. The second goal is to compare the result of this survey with the
results of a similar survey done in Australia. The results will aid in the
identification and classification of legal issues affecting cyber forensics on
an international scale. This will assist in the development of standards.
This survey is voluntary and anonymous. Participants can stop taking the survey at any time. The survey should take less than 15 minutes to complete. The survey is accessible from October 25, 2007 till November 25, 2007. Participants should only take the survey once. Participants taking the survey should be involved in the field of cyber forensics.
The Results
The results of the survey will be incorporated into a research report that
will be submitted for publication.
