ACSAC 2009 is Open for Registration!
Submit your posters and Works in Progress by Sept 18th
http://www.acsac.org/
December 7-11, Honolulu, HI
============================================

We would like to invite you to attend ACSAC's 25th Annual Conference
in Honolulu, Hawaii.
We have an excellent program featuring invited speakers, peer-reviewed
technical papers, case
studies, tutorials, a cloud security workshop, a works in progress
session and panels. We are
pleased to introduce a FISMA training track to this year's conference.
There will be plenty of
opportunities to network with your colleagues from around the globe,
and to earn continuing
education credits. For details, see the advance program posted at
http://www.acsac.org/2009/program.

Registration is now open at http://acsac.org/2009/registration/. The
deadline for securing the early
registration discount and hotel room discount is November 13, 2009.
Please make sure you reserve
your hotel room (http://acsac.org/2009/hotel/) before you register for
the conference in order
to get the hotel room discount on the registration fee.

Program highlights include:

* Two days of tutorials on leading edge topics including: digital forensics,
code transformation techniques for software protection, the Bro
network intrusion
detection system, botnets and related malware, and virtualization and security.

* A full day workshop on Cloud Security

* FISMA training: this year ACSAC has also added a fourth track to our
program, offering FISMA
training, which will focus on risk management and the newly-released
NIST 800 guidelines.

* 44 refereed papers, 6 case studies sessions, 3 panels, along with
Works in Progress and
poster sessions. Together these cover a wide range of research
topics, from access control and
authentication to fraud prevention and information sharing.

* Five invited talks from outstanding speakers:

-- Lorrie Faith Cranor, this year's Distinguished Practitioner, will
share with us her
expert insights on usable security and privacy

-- Mary Ann Davidson, our Invited Essayist, will present a talk on
security metrics:
"The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly: Stepping on the Security Scale"

-- Matt Bishop, in a "Classic Paper" talk, will present a look back at
25 years of UNIX
security analyses

-- Li Gong will present a Classic Paper retrospective on 10 years of
Java security

-- Peter Neumann will provide "food for thought" in his lunchtime presentation:
"Risk Futures: Who (or What) May be Eating your Lunch?"

* ACSAC is a great opportunity for professional development. The FISMA
training, technical
tutorials, and the entire technical program qualify for Continuing
Education Units (CEUs) - all you
need to do is submit your attendance records for professional security
certification.

* Our 25th anniversary is also a time for celebration. We have
exceptional social events
planned this year, in a spectacular location. The reception and dinner
will be held
outdoors, and special entertainment has been arranged for our attendees.

We hope to see you in Honolulu!

Last Chance to Submit a Poster or Work in Progress
==================================================
We'd also like to remind you that the deadline for posters and Works
in Progress (WiPs)
is almost here: they are due this Friday, September 18th.

Submitting a Poster
The poster session provides an interaction opportunity for
researchers and practitioners to present and demonstrate their new and
innovative preliminary work and to obtain feedback from their peers in an
informal setting. It gives conference attendees a forum where they can learn
about novel on-going research projects that might not yet be complete, but whose
preliminary results are already interesting. See
http://acsac.org/2009/cfp/posters/ for details.
Submit your poster as a PDF to poster_chair@acsac.org.

Submitting a Work in Progress
The Works in Progress (WiP) session packs as many 5 minute
presentations as it can into
one fast paced and popular session. These talks highlight the most
current work in both
business and academia, emphasizing goals and value added,
accomplishments to date, and future plans.
Special consideration is given to topics that discuss real life
security experience, including
system implementation, deployment, and lessons learned. See
http://acsac.org/2009/cfp/wip/
for details. Submit your WiP abstract as a PDF to wip_chair@acsac.org.

Student Conferenceships: apply by October 5
============================================
ACSA is pleased to announce the availability of conferenceships
enabling students to attend the
Annual Computer Security Applications Conference. Due to a generous
grant from NSF, ACSA is able
to offer more student conferenceships than in past years. This program
will pay for the conference
for selected students. The students must be nominated by a faculty
member at an accredited
university or school, and must be full-time undergraduate or graduate students.

For details, see http://www.acsac.org/2009/cfp/students/
Submit your application to the Student Awards chair: student_chair@acsac.org
