This week is the Perseid Meteor Shower.

A few years ago, I was in a remote part of the Canadian Rockies, and 
watched the Perseids as they streaked across the sky, exploding into 
brilliant fireballs.  It was one of the most amazing things I've ever 
seen.

The article said this is supposed to be the best display in several 
years, peaking Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
