October 29, 1982 Here is page 12 of additions to the Cunningham Table. Today I received 7 factorizations from Baillie, the four below the line and three others: one factor of of 6,107- and two of 2,1122M. The authors decided to include the new factors from the past year in the table to be published (soon, I hope). I sent Dr. Tuckerman a new table on tape with factors up to #319 inserted. That is the meaning of the line on page 12. Factors above the line will be published. Those below the line (and on later pages) will have to wait for an update. I have not factored any numbers since October 1 because I have been busy programming CFRAC on a new computer. A year ago my colleague Professor Smith and I decided to build a special processor designed to perform CFRAC quickly. It has a fast CPU to generate the continued fraction expansion and many small, cheap, identical division units to do trial division in parallel. The matrix reduction will be done on another machine (IBM 370). I hope to be able to report exciting new factorizations to you soon. Keep the factors coming! Sam Wagstaff
