November 20, 1985 As I predicted two weeks ago, the least composite number in Appendix C now has 60 digits. Bob Silverman did most of this work on his VAX; the EPOC did a couple of C55's. Peter Montgomery factored the "More Wanted" number 5,109+ and Silverman split the "More Wanted" number 6,94+. The latter was a new champion for QS not on a supercomputer. Harvey Dubner noted that I missed the champion #1254 P19 2,1049- for Brent-Pollard rho; he also discovered the new champion #1343 P19 2,2386L for that method. Here are the new wanted lists from John Selfridge: Ten Most Wanted Factorizations 1. 2,512+ c148 6. 7,128+ c95 2. 2,454L c68 7. 2,272+ c74 3. 10,73+ c70 8. 10,83- c70 4. 5,128+ c87 9. 10,97- c89 5. 6,128+ c75 10. 3,149+ c71 Fifteen More Wanted Factorizations 2,277- c78 3,193- c72 10,94+ c88 2,289- c75 5,125+ c67 10,97+ c96 2,269+ c81 6,125- c68 11,79- c79 2,502M c72 6,106+ c77 11,79+ c69 2,518L c66 7,89- c69 12,79+ c85 Keep the factors coming!
